What a memorable and happy day we had at the centre on Friday 5th October to celebrate our name change to Alver Valley Family Centre from Rowner Family Centre… and the sun shone on all of us (unlike the following day which was wet and cold)
The renaming ceremony was carried out by the Caroline Dinenage MP and the cake cut by Mayor Diane Furlong.
The centre was renamed to bring it in line with the changes happening in the local community.
As you can imagine the centre was a hive of activity on the run up to the open day, it’s always good to have a sort out and nothing like a big event to focus you on the task, shrubs were trimmed, windows polished, cupboards sorted and furniture rearranged.
An early start to the Friday morning had all the office staff on hand to get last minute preparations in place, cakes had been baked and decorated, balloons blown up and displays set up.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all our visitors who made the day such a success and to all those people behind the scenes who helped make this possible, including our hard working staff, Caroline Dinenage MP, Mayor Diane Furlong and her Consort Raymond Furlong, Reverend John Draper, the Gosportairians for being mascots in their brilliant costumes, Mucky Bucket Mobile Farm, Tesco – Alver Valley Village Square for the refreshments, Patrick McNaught and Jon Snowdon photography for capturing the day in pictures, Stephen Smith from Chemical Design for designing our website, Bob Lihou for designing our logos and signs, and all the other agencies that work in partnership with us.
